The Award for Community First Responders is a practical qualification for people who are performing as a Community First Responder (CFR), who are likely to be responding to a patient before the Emergency Services arrive.
This qualification can be used as a stepping-stone to progress onto higher levels of pre-hospital care qualifications, such as the Award in First Response Emergency Care, which will provide learners with further knowledge and skills to deal with a broader range of emergency incidents.
This course will offer practical skills to provide the learner with a grounded knowledge of emergency care to preserve life and treat suspected life-threatening illnesses until the Emergency Services can arrive on scene.
The course teaches the role and responsibilities of a Community First Responder (CFR) and how to provide emergency care for a patient. This includes those who may be in Cardiac Arrest and how to use the AED (Automatic External Defibrillator), those bleeding and in shock, how to manage a patient’s airway using adjuncts, and how to administer emergency oxygen.
