Life Support; AED; CPR; and Anaphylaxis Management Courses

The courses in this section are for individuals who have the responsibility, or want to take on the responsibility of being trained in life support, the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Managing the Return of Spontaneous Circulation (RoSC), and the Management of Anaphylaxis. 

Black Dog Medical Defibrillator Course

Basic Life Support and use of Defibrillator - Level 2 Award

The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED.


Over a half day period, learners will develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Topics covered include: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, using an AED on both adults and children, combining AED use with CPR and more. This qualification can be delivered as a standalone course (minimum of 3 hours 40 minutes) or as a ‘bolt on’ (1.5 hours excluding breaks) to other first aid qualifications that share the same assessment criteria.

Black Dog Medical - Immediate Life Support (RQF) and Airway Management Courses

Immediate Life Support - Level 4 Award

The Qualsafe Level 4 Award in Immediate Life Support (RQF) is ideal for individuals who have a responsibility at work, or in community or voluntary activities to provide emergency care to patients, such as: event medical providers, emergency ambulance personnel, registered healthcare professionals and those working in specialist roles within the emergency services and military.


During this one day course, learners will develop the necessary skills associated with immediate life support, including: airway management, patient assessment, management of major illness/injury, post-incident procedures, Managing the Return of Spontaneous Circulation (RoSC), and patient handovers.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and External AED Use - Level 2 Award

The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide first aid and/or use an AED in an emergency.


During this half day course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to administer effective CPR and use an AED when dealing with an emergency situation. Topics covered include: CPR, choking, safe use of an AED, using an AED on a child, and AED maintenance. Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis - Level 2 Award

 

The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency.


Over a half day period, successful learners will gain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including: managing a casualty with anaphylaxis, CPR, common anaphylaxis triggers, signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, treatment.
